Audit of single measles, mumps and rubella administration over 5 years.
)Administration of vaccines singly probably cause less acute side effects than when they re given all together in the MMR( no significant side effects seen over a five year period when 3000+ given). Not a double blind controlled trial but patient group immunised singly probably at greater risk than normal population of developing side effects.( Perceived risk factors such as Ph of Fh of allergy, febrile convulsion or adverse reaction to vaccines etc in 70%)
)As effective as MMR when course finished (as measured by the development of protective antibodies)
)Less effective than suggested by manufacturers ( 97% seroconversion for each vaccine.) Only 90% for measles and 93% for rubella and 80% for mumps whether vaccines given as MMR (100 tested) or as singles (1000 plus tested) May be one explanation for current mumps epidemics
)No one developed measles ,mumps or rubella whilst waiting for the vaccines or after vaccination ( vaccine failure). Accept that the reason for this is that the herd immunity is high because most children receive MMR X2.
)Single administration of vaccines is safe and effective and should be considered in children whose parents are unwilling to vaccinate their children with the MMR.
